Date of Birth: August 4th, 1971
Hometown: Vallejo, California

Jeff Gordon started his racing career at a young age, and soon grew to be one of the most popular NASCAR drivers in the sport. He’s 36 years old, and has already accumulated almost 90 Million Dollars in his career. Since his debut Winston Cup race in 1993, Gordon has continued to climb the ladder of success in racing.
Childhood:
When Jeff Gordon was 5 years old, he began racing quarter midgets, a form of racing in which the car is one quarter of the size (hence the name) of regular midget race cars. These cars were meant for dirt tracks, but could reach about 45 miles per hour. Jeff caught the racing bug, and his family moved out to California to help launch his career.
Professional Career:
Gordon joined the United States Auto Club (USAC) at 16, and was the youngest person to do so at that time. He raced his first full season in the Winston Cup for Hendrick Motorsports, and he won a Daytona 500 qualifying race. In this same year, he was awarded Rookie of the Year.
In 1994, Gordon won the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in the Coca Cola 600, which is NASCAR’s longest and hardest race. He began paving the way for younger potential racers to achieve their goals in NASCAR.
1998 marks one of the best seasons that Gordon has ever had. He tied Richard Petties record for 13 wins in a single season, and it was his third consecutive year to win over 10 races.
The following year, he attempted to form a race team called Gordon/Evernham Motorsports. It survived only one year. After that, the team was named JG Motorsports.
From 2000 to 2006, Gordon’s career remained steadily victorious. He gained 26 wins in the 6 years, and was in the top 5s over 60 times. In 2006, Jeff collected over 7 million dollars in winnings.
In 2007, Gordon had 6 victories, and hit his mark of 80 career victories on October 7th, 2007, and he has won over $89,397,060 in earnings to present. He is one of the best paid athletes in all of sports.
Major Events:
Jeff Gordon has seen success in many areas, but some of his main peaks in his career are centered on the Winston Cup, which he has been champion of 4 times. He was the Winston Cup Champion in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001.
